NeXT was originally founded by Steve Jobs in 1985. Joined by several former Apple employees, Jobs founded a new computer company, which he called NeXT Inc. In 1986, Jobs hired Paul Rand to create a brand identity for NeXT costing $100,000. Paul created a hundred page brochure detailing the brand, which contained the precise angle used for the logo (28 degrees). This company later created NeXTSTEP: an operating system. Operating systems are software programs that allow the computer hardware to communicate and operate the computer software. These help us run any program without much trouble. We do not have to worry about memory allocation or multitasking: the operating system takes care of that! They also developed WebObjects. These help website developers save a lot of time by providing codes that have already been built and tested.
